Portoroz is a tourist destination on the Adriatic Coast of Slovenia. The organization has decided to promote it using non-fungible tokens. This project is the digital component to this year’s campaign for visitors to the region.
Tourists in Portoroz will collect NFTs and win prizes
The Slovenian Tourist Board ( STB) issued last month a “sLOVEnia FFT”. Portoroz in the southwest municipality of Piran has become the first resort to have its own non-fungible tokens. Local media reported that the main purpose of the initiative was to promote the two coastal towns in a progressive, digital and sustainable manner.
Alexander Valentin, Director of the Portoroz Tourist Association was quoted saying that “The door is open to the metaverse”, which will provide a new market to future generations,” during a presentation on innovations in Portoroz.
Visitors will be more loyal to the new “destination NFTs”. Tourists can collect three tokens from three collections when they participate in three activities: subscribe to a newsletter and share a sticker via Instagram with the resort’s @portorozpiran Instagram account. Each collection contains 100 NFTs.
The campaign was launched in Slovenia on April 20 under the banner “We are Here”. It included six countries — Italy, Austria Germany, Hungary Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Slovakia. This campaign aims to promote Slovenia’s status as a tourist destination in more countries. Primorske Novice reported that nine tourist service providers have already joined and more will soon follow.
Portoroz, Piran and others have also entered the crypto market through the NFT Initiative. They are increasing their social media marketing activities. The publication announced that the towns joined Tiktok’s short-form video platform.
The Slovenia small country has been a leader in Southeast Europe’s crypto adoption. Numerous cafes, restaurants and hotels across the country have accepted different cryptocurrencies. The authorities opened public discussions last fall on a draft law to regulate crypto taxation.
