As the country pushes for innovation in digital asset territory, Binance has added a former Brazilian official. Local newspaper O Globo reported that Binance added a former Brazilian central banker to its board.
Henrique Meirelles was most recently the finance minister for the state of Sao Paulo. He managed the central bank from President LuizInacio Lula Da Silva’s time until 2011. Later, he was the country’s finance secretary for two years under Michel Temer’s Brazilian Democratic Movement party.

This party split with Lula’s Workers Party in 2016. If Lula wins the next month’s election, Meirelles will still be part of the Lula presidency.
Brazil is actively working to implement regulations and legislation that will promote the cryptocurrency market.
Latin America’s largest economy’s central bank has been open to innovation in the financial market. Most recently, it announced a proposal for a Decentralized Finance (DeFi) liquidity Pool from Itau Unibanco. This is one of many new projects that aims to provide new financial solutions.
