Many celebrities, social activities and visual artists have joined the alliance of supporting Ukraine with cryptocurrency and NFT artworks since the end of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The trend continues. A group of talented artists have created the avatar NFT series, which brings the support and devotion to an entirely new level. These artworks are distinguished by their stunning visuals, the horrific images, the hauntingly real resemblance to the ongoing cruelty, as well as the unwavering power of resilience.
Avatars for Ukraine + MetaHistory
Together with some of the best digital artists in Ukraine, a group of video game industry professionals created a charity NFT collection for Ukraine. The collection will be available MAY 19, 2022, on MetaHistory. This official Ukrainian charity NFT platform has already raised 260 and ETH/ $722k for Ukraine. The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine supports their initiative. This Ukrainian government institution is known for its procryptostance and has raised over 60 million crypto donations for Ukraine.
Avatars of Ukraine is the name of the charity NFT collection. The original meaning of the term ‘avatar’ is “incarnation”, which can be translated from Sanskrit. These stunning artworks depict the incarnations that free Ukraine represents: its soul, spirit and wisdom, as well as love. This collection is unique, not just in its name. These artworks were created by 50 highly-acclaimed and talented Ukrainian digital artists, from the movie and game industries. Volodymyr Bondar (Europe’s top science fiction illustrator), contributed an original artwork to the EuroCon Award. Volodymyr is a symbol of spirit, as he risked everything to save dozens of civilians from Kharkiv’s heavy shelling. The lead artist and art director of the billion-downloaded Asphalt games franchise are both curators of the collection. They share the same name, Kateryna. The one Kateryna was able to hide in the subway for days with her cats while the other took refuge in Romania.
Many NFT collections only care about the money side of the market. This fuels controversy. The Avatars collection’s purpose is noble for the ideologists behind it. Alexey Savchenko (UK), a former business development manager at Epic and former PR manager at GSC says that “if we were to do NFT for Ukraine, we would do it the same way as we build our game universes with high production values, and the best talent around us.” The company Epic Games, which will most likely build the “real metaverse”, raised $150 million for Ukraine. Dmitry Tarabanov (Canada), game developer credited with game hits Rainbow Six, and warframe.”: “Both the movie and game industries allow you experience universes worth millions of dollars in production, at a cost of just a few dollars, which is somewhat contrary to the NFT culture. All can enjoy the stunning artwork created by these artists. But if you have a historical artwork like a sketch showing the first AT-AT walker in Star Wars then its original value is unbeatable. These artworks are also historic. All money, regardless of its price, goes to Ukraine
The MetaHistory NFT platform was a great help to the team in shaping NFT technology to meet their high standards. MetaHistory is a recognized charity NFT platform that was approved by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. This pro-crypto government institution has raised millions of crypto for Ukraine and previously teamed up to bring Starlink to Ukraine. This NFT collection is unprecedented in terms of the cooperation between crypto industry and electronic entertainment, as well as the contexts behind it. “We hope there won’t be any more artworks made in the most significant war since WWII. We hope that there won’t be any famous artists who paint while their cities are being bombarded. Because every day, another artwork is added to this collection, we wish it would be less than 70. These NFTs, however, are here to fulfill their destiny, which is the noblest cause of this technology that anyone can think of: “To help good prevail, invest in the future, and to follow the right direction in history,” their joint statement states.
